This is the first of in a series of blogs giving an insight into the people who make up Sampling International. Over the next few months we will get to know the people who make up our team and make our company what it is today. We would like to introduce to you to Aleksandra who is the newest member of our sales team.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU WORKED AT SAMPLING INTERNATIONAL?
Although I am new to the sales team, I started working for Sampling International in 2014 as a manufacturing operative. My role involved producing flooring and fabric sampling items. This work was varied; some days I would be producing carpet folders and other days I would be taping fabrics.
IN WHICH OTHER DEPARTMENTS WITHIN THE ORGANISATION HAVE YOU WORKED?
There are not many areas of the factory I have not worked, that’s why it is so good here; each individual is encouraged to work and learn skills in each of the departments. Learning new skills benefits everyone, allowing us all to gain a diverse set of capabilities, as well as never becoming tired of the task we are undertaking.
After moving around various factory floor departments, I gained a good understanding of each of the manufacturing processes. These skills were then transferable and I was able to be make use of my knowledge when I transferred into the order office.
I was tasked with creating the order bags. This is a type of manual which is generated by means of combined information gathered from the sales confirmation and the original estimate. As each product produced is bespoke, a new order bag is developed for each product produced in the factory. Every component and instruction is measured to ensure we use the most cost effective method, along with the best and most robust materials. These will be applied to manufacture a product that will stand the test of time within the market place.
YOU HAVE WORKED AT SAMPLING INTERNATIONAL FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS. WHAT DO LIKE ABOUT WORKING FOR THE ORGANISATION?
Firstly, it has to be the people. A large proportion of the staff here at Sampling have been with the company for a long time. This builds a good family feel and great friendships are created here. There are always new opportunities too as the company invests in training. It supports each person to reach their full potential, as well as encouraging us all to progress throughout the organisation.
TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF…..
I am originally from Estonia. 12 years ago my partner was offered a new job opportunity here in the UK and we made the brave decision to relocate and make England our new home. I enjoy living in England and the people who live here. I am a mother of three wonderful boys aged 7, 16 and 19. When the boys were young, living in a foreign country was scary, but with the support from my family and my work colleagues, I became more confident. After time I realised how happy the UK has made me and my family and I am pleased we made the right decision and made this country our home.
WHERE WOULD YOU MOST LIKE TO VISIT IF YOU COULD GO ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD?
Definitely Portugal. It looks stunning.
